Stir Fry Chicken with “Cincalok”

Having to hear of my foodie friend KT Chin eating experience, I decided to drop by Little Yum Yum located at Kota Damansara not far from my place. I was here before but that was nearly two years back. ( visited Little Yum Yum in year 2011)

When I arrived it was packed on a Monday night which I presumed this place must be good. This time I was craving for something authentic and I decided to have a chicken cincalok (fermented baby prawns) and to my surprise it was just fabulous. It was authentic and came with a unique and refreshing taste. The saltiness of the dish definitely came from the cincalok but the sourness sweet must have came from somewhere. It was naturally sweet yet have a strong engaging refreshing sourness and taste better than pineapple. So I went on the spree of seeking for the answer. This charming young lady, the owner fulfilled my quest and it was their pickled petite bamboo starfruit that cause the stir in me. I was amazed with their unique of choice in having interesting ingredients and put them into great play. I like it and letting loose me with such a syiok sensation, a truly recommended dish here.

Ikan Masak Pedas

Another flavorful dish was their top selling “Ikan Masak Pedas” fish cooked with chilli in tamarind gravy. We had a black tilapia fish which weights about 600gm poached in this sour gravy with a hint of sweetness and fragrant with Asian herbs like mint and laksa leafs. It was a very balance dish and definitely goes well with white rice. Another satisfying dish to order.

Yum Yum Egg

As there were only two of us, we decided to add in one more lighter dish, fried egg topped with minced chicken. or so called Yum Yum Egg. It was simple and just the right dish for a cosy layback dining at ease. I love the flavor and taste of brown sauce that topped over the egg, creamy and light when combine with the egg. Nice!

It was great night comfort eating with a dash of authenic-ness! I just love it. Definitely a place to indulge authentic-ness and the food here is a must try ! . . . . . . Sidney Kan
